Should you elect to retire, you may remit your own contributions directly to the Trust Fund, providing all of the following conditions are met:

• You live in Canada,
• You are insured by a provincial health plan,
• You are a Member in good standing of Local 879 at the date of your retirement,
• You have participated in a Local 879 Trust Fund for a minimum of 5 years,
• You are at least 55 years of age at the date of retirement, 
• You are not employed elsewhere,
• You notify your Local Union, the Teamsters Local 879, of your retirement within 30 days of the date of retirement, and
• You must choose the full package of benefits available.

Termination of Coverage

Your insurance will be discontinued on the earliest of the following dates:

• The date the insurance contract is cancelled or terminated,
• The last day of the month in which you cease to make contributions, 
• The date you cease to be a Member in good standing with the Union, or 
• Your death.
